Arabic Shopify Themes and Bilingual Stores: UAE Guide

Bilingual commerce needs a content process as much as a language switcher. Plan both versions as complete customer experiences so product discovery, reassurance, and action remain clear in Arabic and English.

1. Agree on content ownership

Define who creates, reviews, and publishes each language version for products, collections, campaigns, policies, and support content.

2. Design both reading directions

Review all critical layouts in right-to-left and left-to-right contexts, including navigation, filters, cards, forms, and checkout-adjacent messaging.

3. Maintain search consistency

Give every indexable language page its matching alternate, canonical URL, title, description, and internal link path.

4. Evaluate Arabic theme support before buying

Shopify advises checking right-to-left support when translating into Arabic. A language selector alone is not evidence of a complete RTL layout. Ask the theme vendor for an Arabic demo, then review your longest product names, mixed Arabic and English text, navigation, filters, cart drawer, and app widgets on a phone before committing.

5. Test real Arabic interface examples

For a fashion store, check that size labels, colour choices, price, and the add-to-cart action remain easy to scan. For a large catalogue, test the filter drawer and breadcrumb order. Keep product codes, phone numbers, and familiar logos readable. Review directional arrows individually rather than mirroring every icon or image.

6. Build a translation and release workflow

Assign a reviewer for terminology, tone, policies, product details, and customer messages. Test language switching on the same product and collection, and inspect checkout, order emails, search, and third-party app text. Recheck both languages after a theme update or campaign release. Record missing translations and their owners before launch.
