Motion and accessibility

Control animations and scrolling, and how Clean Art supports keyboard, screen reader and reduced-motion users.

Motion

Theme settings > Motion

  • Enable animations: turns all theme animation on or off.

  • Animate sections as you scroll: headings and pictures rise or unveil as they enter the screen.

  • Animation intensity: Subtle or Normal.

  • Page transitions: a soft change between pages: Off, Fade, Fade and rise or Slide. It works in browsers that support it (Chrome, Edge and Safari 18.2 and newer), and is off for visitors who prefer reduced motion.

Some sections have their own motion settings, such as the Collection section's card animation (Flow, Bloom in, Rise in, None) and the Showcase ticker's scroll speed.

Scrolling

Theme settings > Scrolling: smooth scrolling, and the scroll bar style (browser default, custom colors, thin, or hidden) with its colors.

Built in for every visitor

  • Reduced motion: visitors who set "reduce motion" on their device never see scroll effects, and moving content such as the Showcase ticker stops.
  • Keyboard: every menu, drawer, pop-up, filter and slider works with the keyboard, with visible focus outlines. Drawers and pop-ups keep focus inside while open and close with Esc.
  • Screen readers: buttons and controls have labels in all five languages; the cart count and cart errors are announced.
  • Moving content (announcement bar, slideshow, Showcase ticker) has a pause button.
  • Touch targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels on phones.

What you control

  • Alt text on images (Images).
  • Color contrast of at least 4.5 to 1 for text, when you change colors.
  • Clear link and button labels in the text you write.
